Parker Talks Taxes at National Business Institute Seminar

Paul S. Parker was a featured presenter at the National Business Institute’s Probate and Estate Planning Seminar in Nashville on October 19. Parker’s presentation, titled “Tax Deadlines and Preparing, Coordinating, and Filing Returns,” addressed issues relating to tax forms, elections, allocations, and transfers.

 

Firm’s Pro Bono Service Honored by Tennessee Supreme Court

The Tennessee Supreme Court held its annual “Attorneys for Justice” Middle Tennessee awards ceremony at Belmont University College of Law on October 18, 2017.  The event recognizes lawyers, law students, and law firms for achievements in pro bono service.

Dodson Parker attorneys Margaret L. Behm, Donald Capparella, Candi Henry, and Tyler Chance Yarbro have each been named 2017 Attorneys for Justice based upon their pro bono service during the calendar year 2016.  The firm as a whole also received recognition for the fourth year in a row, reflecting an average of more than 50 hours of pro bono service per attorney in the firm.

 

 

Behm Talks Nashville’s Path to Inclusion at NBA Diversity Summit

Margaret L. Behm was among the featured panelists at the Nashville Bar Association’s “Diversity & the Law” program on October 3, 2017.  Margaret, who co-founded the city’s first all-woman law firm, spoke about her experiences founding the Lawyers Association for Women in Nashville and her perspective on the law’s path to inclusion.

Tyler Yarbro Speaks at LAW Lunch

The Lawyers Association for Women – Marion Griffin Chapter held its monthly CLE luncheon on Tuesday, September 19.  The discussion topic was “Just Enough to Be Dangerous: Practical Legal Tips for Your Family and Friends. “ DPBC’s Tyler Chance Yarbro was a featured panelist, discussing how attorneys who do not practice criminal law can be better positioned to help their friends and family in times of need.

Mastroianni Leads Session on Legislative Updates in Probate Law

Jillian Mastroianni and Ashley Stearns Lead CLE in Rutherford County

On September 12, Jillian Mastroianni was a featured speaker at Hon. Toby Gilley’s annual “Judge the Judge Reception and Open House.” This year’s event was jointly hosted by  Rutherford County General Sessions Court Judge Gilley and the Rutherford and Cannon County Bar Association.  Mastroianni, along with Murfreesboro attorney Ashley Stearns, presented “Legislative Updates on Probate Law and Associated Ethical Considerations.”

 

 

Capparella, Yarbro Secure Win in 6th Circuit Court of Appeals

On September 7, 2016, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit handed down its opinion in U.S. v. Lanier, vacating the convictions of the defendants due to the trial court’s error in failing to investigate the extent of alleged juror misconduct.  Donald Capparella and Tyler Yarbro were counsel for the defendants.

Jillian Mastroianni Speaks at Murfeesboro Estate Planning Council

Jillian Mastroianni was the featured speaker at the August 16 meeting of the Murfreesboro Estate Planning Council.  Jillian led a discussion on updates in the law of probate and estate planning and offered tips and best practices. The Council consists of Murfreesboro-area attorneys, trust advisors, and other professionals who focus on estate planning matters.

Mastroianni focuses her practice on estate planning, real estate law, and business entities.
